WSERV has a major role to play in all aspects of the UI of any device. It has rich APIs for dealing with all aspects of event handling, window management and drawing window content, as well as code for managing the different types of event and holding them until clients are ready to receive them. WSERV provides a variety of ways of drawing to the screen, including anim DLLs, redraw windows and direct screen access. In the next chapter, I shall discuss device drivers and extensions.

In the previous chapters of this book, I have concentrated on the fundamental concepts and services that make up the EKA2 kernel, and have introduced some of the fundamental hardware resources that the kernel requires, such as the interrupt controller provided in the ASSP class to provide the access to the millisecond timer interrupt. If we apply the wavelet technique to our datasets, we con rm our suspicion that the HTTP connection arrival process is asymptotically self-similar. Figure 15.2 shows the scaling plots for some of the busier two hour periods of the datasets. All plots show a clear nonhorizontal scaling region from about scale 4 6 to scale 12, verifying the assumption of self-similar nature of the arrival process.
